New provincial partnership for K-12 energy conservation campaign

The Saskatchewan Environmental Society (SES) is happy to announce their partnership with the Saskatchewan Science Centre (SSC) for the 25 Acts of Energy Conservation campaign, a K-12, province-wide action contest that promotes energy conservation all school year, culminating in a month of daily activities between Earth Hour and Earth Day (March 23 to April 27, 2015).

SES Destination Conservation Coordinator Pam Belcher said, “SES is proud of this new partnership with the SSC. Together we hope to promote the 25 Acts of Energy Conservation campaign to more schools across the province and get students excited about how they can conserve energy and water, and reduce waste.”

Schools can register from now until April 27, and begin inquiry and action projects. They create videos or presentations, as part of their projects, and submit their campaigns to be entered to win up to $1000 for their schools. The SSC is pleased to be able to contribute to this campaign, which meets their goal of igniting scientific curiosity and innovation in Saskatchewan.

“Energy conservation is of the utmost importance to the residents of Saskatchewan, and educating the youth of the province on how to be more energy conscious will enhance other efforts to reduce energy use and reduce emissions in the future. SSC is excited to partner SES to reach students in Saskatchewan with this project,” said Julie Fisowich, SSC manager of programming.

25 Acts of Energy Conservation is sponsored by SaskEnergy. For more information about the campaign please visit www.environmentalsociety.ca or call SES at 306-665-1915.
