Install tankless water heaters
Why
In many commercial buildings, hot water is needed in a few locations, widely distributed around the building. Maybe your water heater is located near your kitchen, but far from your washrooms for example. Getting hot water to those washrooms either requires a hot water circulation pump, or running the water for a long time. Either way, you waste energy, and maybe water.
How
Install a tankless heater near where the water is used. Both gas and electric tankless water heaters are available. Normally, SES only recommends gas water heaters, not electric, because we pay 3-7 times as much for electricity as we do for gas (and in Saskatchewan electricity has three times the greenhouse gas emissions than gas does). However, if the savings in water and energy will be great, you can consider an electric tankless heater.
