A programmable thermostat is a very simple BMS. Controls companies carry systems that can centrally control temperature, ventilation, humidity, lighting, security, boiler operation, etc.  Control can be based on a schedule, occupancy, and/or weather. With some systems, you can remotely control your building while offsite. Contact a controls company to see what sort of system may be right for your building needs. Normally, a BMS is appropriate for larger buildings, rather than small ones.
