Water lawns and gardens during the coolest part of the day – morning is best

Half the water coming out of your sprinkler can evaporate before it hits the ground.  Water droplets on grass and plants can act as little magnifying glasses and allow the sun to burn the leaves.

Set your sprinklers to come on at sunrise.  Or make watering part of your morning routine one day a week (but only when it’s been dry out).  You can also water in the evening, but your lawn may develop mold or fungus.
