Use blinds to keep summer heat out and let winter heat in

Why

Year ’round, the sun can pour a lot of heat into our buildings. In the winter, that is great; let the sun in to help heat up your house. In the summer, that sun can overheat our house or make our air conditioning run longer.

How

In the winter, open the blinds on the sunny side of the house to let the sun in. Close the blinds when the sun isn’t shining in the window, to help reduce heat loss through the window.

In the summer close the blinds on the sunny side of the house to keep the sun out.
