Student Action for a Sustainable Future
Student Action for a Sustainable Future (SASF) is an action and inquiry project for grades 5 – 8 and high school students in Saskatoon. Funded by the City of Saskatoon and Nutrien, partners include the SES, Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, Saskatoon Public Schools, Saskatoon Light and Power, and the Sustainability Education Research Institute at the University of Saskatchewan. Supported by the partners, students from several schools develop, implement, and showcase inquiry and actions, which focus on six areas: waste, water, energy, food, transportation, and biodiversity, that reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Saskatoon and around Saskatchewan.
Connect your curriculum outcomes to important sustainability goals while providing project-based work, in class or online. The high school program provides flexible PD, and support in subjects or program areas, accommodating semester or quarter timeframes. Approved high school teachers will be contacted in September and SASF programming can begin at this time. Check out some highlighted SASF projects from previous years on the City of Saskatoon’s SASF webpage.
