The Boreal Watershed Monitoring Program

From 2012 to 2016, the Boreal Water Monitoring Program was supported by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment, and included SES staff, experts from the University of Saskatchewan, community elders, and teachers and students at each participating school.

Workshops were activity-oriented, including inquiry around the issues affecting healthy watersheds. Students learned to take water samples, did a variety of water testing and water-related research, learned about geographic information systems, and sent monthly samples to the Saskatchewan Research Council for chemical laboratory tests.
