50th Anniversary Events Calendar
To celebrate our successes over the years, and to ensure that our work can continue in Saskatchewan, SES is organizing a wide array of fundraising events throughout 2020. Join us for a series of intimate dinner shows—where local singer/songwriters will captivate your attention for an evening, or for a moveable feast—hop on your bicycle and enjoy a unique culinary experience while learning about the history of SES and the environmental movement in Saskatchewan. Other events include a spin class, a trivia night, a picnic, and an anniversary banquet that will weave together SES’s rich history with the inimitable contributions of Indigenous Peoples in the fight for environmental justice—at the beautiful & diverse Wanuskewin Heritage Centre, just outside of Saskatoon.
50TH ANNIVERSARY MUSIC SERIES
To kick-off the Saskatchewan Environmental Society’s 50th Anniversary, join us for a series of four shows in Saskatoon! Come to one or come to all four; the choice is yours. Details for each show are below.

January 14, 2020 (Doors @ 6pm. Music @ 7:30pm.) Tickets are $25 each, and include an array of appetizers. Cash bar.
Singer/songwriter Jay Semko was born and raised in Saskatchewan. Jay has released nine solo albums, firmly establishing him as one of Canada’s premiere songwriters. Jay’s latest album, “Never Sent,” released on Inner Expression Records, is a rootsy musical road-trip through love, loss, and spirituality.
DINNER & MUSIC BY JAY & JO
Hailing from the sweet Saskatchewan prairies, Janaya and Jolissa Trudel (Jay & Jo) pair up to form a vibrant sister-duo, embodying both joy and depth in one double-batted swing. They are currently working on releasing their second full-length album.
DINNER & MUSIC BY EILEEN LAVERTY
Known for delivering heart-rending ballads and her comfortable repartee, Eileen Laverty has performed across Canada and Ireland entertaining all ages with her upbeat messages, strong vocals, and heartfelt lyrics. To date, Eileen has released two independent albums which continue to draw praise at home and abroad.

April 21, 2020 (Dinner @ 6pm. Music @ 7:30pm.) Tickets for the final show in this series are $50 each. Dinner is included. Cash bar.
Steeped in roots music, Rick Fines crafts a unique blend of warm-hearted blues, juke joint folk, and dockside soul that both embraces and defies the genres that influence him. He engages audiences with captivating songs, diverse guitar styling and his signature vocal growl. His newest album, Driving Home, is his most eclectic and electric to date.

August 30, 2020
A free event to celebrate SES’s official 50th birthday. (Our “Articles of Incorporation” were signed on August 30, 1970.) The picnic will take place along the SK River in Saskatoon. Wear your whites (1970s or otherwise), bring a picnic, blanket, and join SES for birthday cake. More details to follow.
September 26, 2020. Tickets will be $85 (on sale soon), and a portion of the ticket price is tax-deductible.
Celebrate SES’s rich history, with a focus on the inimitable contributions of Indigenous Peoples in the fight for environmental justice in Saskatchewan—at the beautiful & diverse Wanuskewin Heritage Centre, just outside of Saskatoon. A delicious meal created from locally-sourced ingredients and a silent auction will entertain you and your loved ones in an evening to remember!
LEGACY CLUB MEET-UP
